Description

The mountain tour to the Glockturm in Tyrol's Kaunertal, which towers majestically at a height of 3,353 meters, is an unforgettable experience for every mountaineer. The Glockturm, the highest point of the Glockturm ridge, gives this mountain range its name and forms an imposing backdrop to the picturesque Kaunertal on the right side of the valley.

The summit tour begins at the "Rifftal/Krumpgampental" parking lot, where the ascent leads through alpine landscapes and along well-marked paths through the Krumpgampental valley. Together with the Kaunertal mountain guides, we reach an altitude of 2,880 m over beautifully stepped, undulating terrain and reach the first striking landmark - the Glockturmjoch. Here, a breathtaking view of the surrounding Alpine region opens up. The trail continues over scree fields and rock slabs, repeatedly encountering small patches of snow, which can still be present even in summer.

Ascent to the summit:
The final ascent to the summit of the Glockturm requires skill and strength. The last few meters lead over steep, rocky passages, which can be challenging in wet or snowy conditions. After a final, energy-sapping climb, you reach the summit, where you can enjoy an overwhelming panorama.

View and summit experience:
At the summit of the Glockturm, a panoramic view opens up that is second to none. To the east you can see the Ötztal Alps, to the west the Silvretta and the Bernina Group and to the south the mighty peaks of the Ortler Alps. The view down into the Kaunertal and of the surrounding mountain peaks is breathtaking and quickly makes you forget the effort of the ascent.
