Directions

to Tyrol's nature park and glacier region

Whether by car, rail, bus, or air, here you will find all the travel information you need to get to the Kaunertal.

There are a few important things to keep in mind:

  1. The motorways in Austria have tolls. If you drive without paying for a vignette, you will face high penalties. The vignettes are available at kiosks and petrol stations. They are valid for 10 days, 2 months, or for a full year.
  2. Vignettes are also compulsory for the Landecker Tunnel (you could drive the Piller Höhe/Gachenblick Pass instead).
  3. In winter, adequate equipment and snow chains depending on the weather are also required. Attention: winter tyres are compulsory in Austria from 1 November to 15 April!
  4. Austria also requires you to carry safety vests for every passenger who would have to leave the vehicle in case of a breakdown or accident.
