Ecolabel for destinations

Austria’s ecolabel for the Kaunertal region

The Kaunertal receives the Austrian Ecolabel - one of the few tourism regions in Tyrol to do so.

A milestone for sustainable tourism and a special recognition for lived responsibility in the Kaunertal.

As one of Tyrol's most sustainability-commited regions, the Kaunertal has been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel in recognition of its comprehensive efforts in the areas of climate protection, accessibility, and sustainable tourism development.

The Kaunertal has long been committed to sustainable development and the protection of its unique natural landscape. As part of the Kaunergrat Nature Park, the region actively promotes environmentally responsible tourism, environmental education, and the preservation of alpine biodiversity.

The Ecolabel means far more to us than a symbol. It confirms our path of consistent, sustainable development. It not only strengthens trust among guests and partners, but also motivates everyone within the region to continue on this journey together!

Long-term commitment with impact

The Kaunertal has long been committed to sustainable development and the protection of its unique natural landscape. As part of the Kaunergrat Nature Park, the region actively promotes environmentally responsible tourism, environmental education, and the preservation of alpine biodiversity. The Kaunertal's commitment goes further still - the region is an active participate in the Austria-wide KLAR! initiative and a member of the 'Clean Alpine Region' initiative, promoting climate-friendly mobility and resource-efficient tourism. Electric shuttles, hiking buses, and a conscious effort to reduce traffic all contribute to a more sustainable way of getting around. Accessibility, too, is a value the Kaunertal takes seriously.

Diverse measures, one clear goal

The region's sustainability efforts are further complemented by projects such as Alpine Awareness Camps, climate hikes, regional value creation initiatives, and educational offerings for guests and locals alike. This commitment is visible not only in concepts, but in daily action — from the use of regional products to the conscious shaping of visual language that emphasises diversity and inclusion. The long-term goal is clear: to establish the Kaunertal as a year-round, accessible, and climate-conscious destination. The Austrian Ecolabel is a proud and meaningful step along the way.
