Sustainability Coordination & Habitat Management in the Tyrolean Oberland

By establishing the new role of Sustainability Coordinator and Habitat Manager, the Tyrolean Oberland Tourism Association is taking a clear stand - and a concrete step - towards a sustainable and future-focused development of the region.
Judith Falch is the driving force behind this role, actively shaping the region's path towards sustainability, awareness, and a genuinely lived sense of regionality.
A particular milestone was reached in June 2025, when the tourism association was awarded the Austrian Ecolabel for Tourism Destinations for the Kaunertal experience region. This seal of quality confirms the region's comprehensive commitment to environmental and climate protection, resource conservation, and sustainable tourism development.
The role of sustainability coordination is to embed sustainability at a strategic level, put legal requirements into practice, and drive projects that strengthen the region as a place to live and visit - for locals and guests alike, long into the future.
The focus of her work lies clearly on the following points:
- In-house Measures: developing sustainable structures and procedures within the association
- Knowledge and Networking: building expertise, fostering active networking, and exchanging best practices with other regions
- Sustainability Contact: Supporting and advising businesses, municipalities, partners, and external experts
- Project Management & Monitoring: Planning, implementing, and overseeing sustainable projects throughout the association's area
- Status Quo Analysis & Coordination: Bringing together the three experience regions and developing shared measures
- Communication & Cooperation: Implementing marketing activities and building sustainable partnerships
Driven by a passion for nature, people, and the region, Judith Falch draws on her experience and network to help preserve and shape the Tyrolean Oberland as a liveable, authentic, and responsibly managed destination.
