Ready to climb every mountain and ford every stream? Now's the time! The cable cars in the nature park and glacier region are safe means of transport year-round. And they also offer impressive panoramic views of the surrounding Ötztal Alps.

When do the Karlesjochbahn or the Falginjochbahn at Kaunertal Glacier and the Fendels mountain railways run? What are the fares? The following overview provides the answer to that. Maybe you'll soon be joining us up here in the clouds!

Soaring to over 3,108 m above sea level

Take a ride past the glacial landscape at 3,108 m above sea level with the Karlesjoch cable car. From the barrier-free observation deck at Karlesjoch, visitors are treated to a breathtaking panoramic view spanning three countries.

The valley station at 2,750 m above sea level is conveniently located on the Kaunertal Glacier Road. Things stay cool here year-round since you can find yourself surrounded by permanent ice just 300 m from the Glacier Restaurant right in the middle of summer.

As is the ride to the mountain station: the observation deck there offers the most spectacular view of the Alps across three countries, including the Weißseespitze (3,518 m) and Weißkugel (3,712 m), both in Austria; the Ortler in Italy; and the Bernina Group in Switzerland.

Other highlights: the Glacier Gate, the educational glacier trail, the tongue of the Gepatschferner, and the Seeles lakes (ideal for families).

Fendels

The small mountain village of Fendels is picturesquely located on a high plateau at the entrance of the Kaunertal at 1,356 m above sea level. You can reach Fendels either on the well-developed road or comfortably with the gondola lift from Ried in the Oberinntal. The valley station of the four-seater chairlift is located right in the village and provides access to the starting point of numerous hiking trails and mountain tours. Many trails and wide paths are even suitable for pushchairs.

A good tip: the wildlife educational trail in Fendels from the Sattelklause to the Fendler Alm. Clear signs teach a lot about the native animals of the mountains.

Also recommended: The hiking trail to the Fendler Alm to the serviced Anton-Renk-Hütte. This then continues to the Stalanzer Alm (also serviced). In between, the dramatic waterfall known as Fallender Bach cascades 160 metres down the rock face. The whole hike takes 3 to 4 hours.

Or you can enjoy the warm rays of the sun on the sun terrace of the Sattelklause (open every day). In the meantime, your little ones can have fun in the Sattelboden adventure forest, which is situated directly at the mountain restaurant. The Sattelboden comes with a tree house, trampoline, swings, slides, water park, adventure path, and wading pool. If you want to feel nature at every turn, do it on a barefoot forest bathing path.

Another highlight is the Wildbach Trail. This bike trail runs downhill from Fendels to the valley station of the Ried-Fendels cable car. You can then easily take the gondola lift back up. Action and fun are inevitable!
