Glacier Tour to the Rauhekopfhütte

We set off from Fernergries on the Kaunertal Glacier Panorama Road. From there, we head through the valley, shaped by glacial ice, towards the glacier tongue. The visible glacial strata tell the story of nature’s early history. Equipped with crampons and harnesses, we step onto the glacier tongue and marvel at the fascination of the glacial world as we ascend. Once we arrive at the rustic Rauhekopfhütte, we enjoy the afternoon and settle into our accommodation. Before dinner, the high-alpine terrain around the hut offers plenty of space to unwind, meditate and simply be. After breakfast at the hut, we set off early to climb up to the Gepatschferner glacier plateau. In the morning light, we enjoy the unique glacier landscape and cross the Gepatschferner to the Zahn. We descend via the north ridge, with some easy ridge climbing, to the Kaunertal glacier ski area. From there, we ski back together to our starting point.
