The high-profile jury of the Tyrolean advertising prize Tirolissimo officially confirmed: Tyrolean Oberland with its subregion Kaunertal is not only one of the most extraordinary regions in Tyrol in terms of its landscape and culture - it also brought out the state’s best image brochure. A great award which makes us proud and has shown us that we have taken the right path with our advertising strategy!
The State Government of Tyrol awards a seal of quality as quality assurance to reward safety on slopes, trails, toboggan runs and mountain trails. Kaunertal is a member of several associations and meets all criteria for the seal of quality. The nature park and glacier region provides a whole range of services, with the motto: Only the best for our guests. In the last few years, we have been awarded the trail seal of quality for our trails, the mountain routes seal of quality for the panorama road and for Zirbenweg, as well as the seal of quality for nature toboggan runs for the toboggan run in Fendels.
Kaunertal nature park and glacier region can celebrate a very special award: The European Union rewarded the region’s consistent commitment to creating an accessible environment with the sought-after EDEN award in Vienna on 28 May 2013. As the highest-ranking location in Austria, Kaunertal is in good company with a handful of other award-winner destinations from the whole of Europe. It is surely unique for a mountain valley in the High Alps to be entirely wheelchair-accessible up to 3,108 m above sea level.
And with the “Tirol Touristica” award, “Tirol Werbung” in June 2013 rewarded the commitment and innovation of Kaunertal in expanding its tourism infrastructure. Persons with physical disabilities appreciate the accessible offer of Kaunertal - an offer that’s not just attractive to sports fans. Wheelchair users can enjoy the breathtaking backdrop of Kaunertal trouble-free.
2013 was a very special year for “accessible” Kaunertal. For the third time, the region was nominated for an international “accessibility” prize - the “World Responsible Tourism Award”. It was very close... but in the end, at the award ceremony in London on 6 November 2013, Kaunertal lost to the Brazilian Bonito region. Its nomination among the Top 4 is further proof that the region’s efforts to offer all guests an accessible and a great holiday all-round are setting it on the right path. Holidaymakers with limited mobility will find an excellent infrastructure in the truest sense of the word.
