Going up with your skis and… DOOOWWWWN!
Kaunertal glacier is still a secret spot for freeriders. Broad slopes with endless powder snow and untouched lines await you. Off-piste skiing is still gaining in popularity, appealing - as it does - to our basic pioneering spirit: being the first to leave your mark on virgin terrain.
Check your line
To freeride, you need to be responsible and experienced. That’s why the Austrian Alpine Association (risk ’n’ fun – Alpine professionals) together with Kaunertaler Gletscherbahnen has developed a freeride concept called ”Check your line”, which uses information boards to help freeriders on the Weißseejoch off-pistes and to convey and add to their knowledge. Targeted questions inspire skiers and snowboarders to reflect and think about their own behaviour. During the winter months, risk ’n’ fun workshops are held in Kaunertal.
Safety always comes first! Always check the current avalanche and weather conditions before going on a ski tour. Safety equipment such as helmet, probe, shovel, and avalanche tracking equipment are essential for your freerides and ski tours.
