Kaunertal glacier road takes you from Feichten in the valley (1,273 m) high up to the edge of the “perpetual ice” at 2,750 m. Master this difference in height by car, bus, motorbike or even by bike over 26 km and 29 hairpin bends. Immediately on the roadside – and clearly marked –, you will also find many stations with special surprises: viewing platforms, buildings, historic sites, freaks of nature and much more. Once you have reached the top, the sun terrace at the glacier restaurant offers unforgettable views. As well as insights: immediately next door, families can visit a real crevasse - without risk, but all the more impressive. Incidentally, the highest Postbus stop in the whole of Austria is also located there, at 2,750 m. For all those who prefer to be driven on their summer holiday in Tyrol and who want to keep their eyes only on nature as they approach the glacier.
The Kaunertal glacier road is open from 7.00 am to 7.30 pm in June, 7.00 am to 8.00 pm in July and 7.00 am to 6.00 pm in August. In the remaining months, it is open from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm.
